Pictures from the beautiful Agora Garden Tower in Taipei

The Agora Garden Tower in the Xinyi District in Taipei City is, in my opinion, currently the most amazing building in the city. Not only because of its concept and design. Due to the twisted structure the building is a fantastic subject for photography. At least for me, who likes the quirky “architecture” in Taiwan (you can find more here).

The Agora Garden Tower was designed by Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut. Some background information about the design can be found here and some 3D renderings of the interior can be found here. One interesting feature of this building is that on the balconies of each floor different kinds of plants will be growing. The whole building will be like a vertical park in the city.

Unfortunately this vertical park will be only accessible for very very rich people. According to an article from Taiwan News, one square meter should cost nearly 50,000 US$, which would sum up to 65 Million US$ for one apartment. However, once the plants are fully grown, it is expected that the building helps to improve air quality in the city. I am curious about the results of future studies, if the plants on this building will have a significant effect on the air quality.

Here I want to share some photographs of that building, which I took in the last couple of months.

  1. Hi
Cool building! Will keep it in mind, cause my girlfriend and I will spent our christmas holidays in Taiwan. Well maybe not the very best time of the year to visit but at least it should be low season 😉
    Greetings Peter

    1. Hi Peter,
nice, you are coming to Taiwan. Christmas time is okay for traveling. But you won’t escape the Christmas decoration. Taiwanese are getting more and more crazy about Christmas lights and decoration. Weather could be cold, but probably still warmer than a summer in Austria 😉 If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email.
      All the best, Alex

      1. Thanks a lot, especially in the south of taiwan it should be warmer than in Austria 😉 . I plan the details of the trip in the next weeks so maybe I will contact you :-).
